Enchyclopedia Dylanica

Encyclopedia Dylanica Volume One is due in stores today. Have no idea how far into his career volume one goes, but I just want to buy it for the section on the 1986 tour with Petty! I've read that Dylan was thinking of retiring prior to that tour.

Live Aid DVD - The 1985 Live Aid DVD is coming out... Today they announced the release date of November 16. They also announced the set list. For those who don't remember...

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers played American Girl, The Waiting, Rebels and Refugee... In that order as a matter of fact... But only American Girl and Refugee will be on the DVD.
If my memory serves me correctly, it was cool at the time because MTV was cool at the time. They had two venues, one at Wembley in London and the other in Philly? And I think it went on for six days or something (joking, well, it felt like it!) I remember sitting through hours of crap from bands you haven't heard from since to catch Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers and the over anticipated "Zeppelin reunion." None of Zeppelin's set made the DVD thank god. Seriously though, with something like this, why not just release the whole damn thing? If you want to see the whole setlist, you can go to Bono's errr Bob Geldof's (sometimes I think they're the same person!) www.bobgeldof.info. Geldof must've given the money from Live Aid to the people of Africa like he said! 'Cause he sure didn't use it on a web designer! Loved the Boomtown Rats and Geldof as Pink in the Wall, but man, quit whining and play some music!

Petty Theft - I got this email today from Bob Wood of the band Petty Theft. If you don't know, Petty Theft is a Heartbreaker tribute band. They've got a show coming up on October 16th - 9:30, Leo's Bar and Grill 201 E. Romeo, Romeoville. If you live near there, go check them out! If you know where Romeoville actually is, please email me and tell me! I'm pretty sure it's not near Atlanta, so I checked out their site and I recommend you do the same! It's www.pettytheft.net. They have a great video on the site of them doing "Listen to Her Heart." A very true to the original version I might add. VERY respectful. I liked that.
